Vence is old inland town in the French Riviera surrounded by a ring of hills, that boasts a combination of fine warm weather, fabulous mountain scenery and sparkllng azure blue sea views making this area one of the most magnetic in the world. Its mountain backdrop, exquisite light and sheer chic have drawn a diversity of adherents, not least some of the twentieth century's most famous artists, writers and poets

Dufy, Matisse, Chagall, Dubuffet, Carzou, Arman, Anthony Mars and D.H. Lawrence have all been very much a part of the Vence scene.

Storyvilla is conveniently located to a huge range of attractions. Some of the most popular regions and resorts of the South of France French Riviera are all less than one hour away:

  • 7 - 10 minutes drive from the villa, you will find plenty of local eateries from inexpensive but excellent local restaurants to world-renowned one and two-star Michelin establishments.

  • 7 - 10 minutes drive to the historic St. Paul de Vence probably the most famous and most spectacular of the medieval villages in the region.  St. Paul de Vence is a very pretty fortified village full of art galleries and near the Foundation Maeght which houses the most extraordinary collection of art works collected by the Maeghts -(Art-Dealers and friends with artists such as Giocometti, Miro, Chagall, Picasso, Braque)
  • 7-10 minutes drive from the Villa will take you to the wonderful Gorge du Loup where you will discover spectacular waterfalls, walking and bathing in pure mountain waters.

  • Matisse Chapel, is a 10 minute walk from the center of town, and the same from Storyvilla. This white chapel with its striking blue roof was designed and decorated by Matisse and is famous for its stained glass windows which spill colours onto the white marble floors. Matisse apparently considered it his masterpiece
